Working Wisdom: quote about strategy

Napoleon Bonaparte once said: “Strategy is the art of making use of time and space. I am less concerned about the latter than the former. Space we can recover, lost time never.”

Born in Corsica on 15 August 1769, Napoleon Bonaparte was a French statesman and military leader who led several successful campaigns during the French Revolutionary Wars and Napoleonic Wars. Napoleon is widely credited with being a great tactician and a military genius of his time, and his strategic techniques have been studied, refined and adopted by subsequent generations. He placed great emphasis on movement as part of warfare and regularly leveraged the element of surprise to outmanoeuvre his opponents, allowing him to fight battles at a time and place that suited him.
