Working Wisdom: quote about planning and execution

Working Wisdom

Prediction is very difficult, especially if it’s about the future.”

This quote is widely attributed to Nils Henrik David Bohr (7 October 1885 – 18 November 1962), who was a Danish physicist. He received the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1922 for his contributions to modern understandings of atomic structure and quantum mechanics. However, the quote – or a variation on it – has also been linked back to numerous others, including Arthur K. Ellis, the Danish poet Piet Hein or the Danish cartoonist Storm P. (Robert Storm Petersen), and it could even originate from a Danish proverb. Whatever its true origins, there is no denying that supply chain professionals are continuously struggling to predict future demand. No magic formula has yet been discovered to achieve 100% forecast accuracy, but there are countless studies, tips and tools for improving forecasting success.
