Working Wisdom: quote about innovation and technology

“The future is already here – it’s just not evenly distributed.”
William Ford Gibson (born 17 March 1948 in South Carolina) is an American/Canadian science-fiction novelist and writer of more than 20 short stories and ten novels. He is widely credited with pioneering the cyberpunk/steampunk sub-genres, and actually coined the term ‘cyberspace’ in a short story (Burning Chrome) published in 1982. He went on to popularize the concept in his debut novel, Neuromancer (1984). This quote comes from various interviews held in the early 1990s, in which he discussed how the access to – and hence the benefit from – technological advancements depends on factors such as wealth and location.
