The General Manager we are looking for

As the General (Branch) Manager, you will fulfil two roles: Forwarding and Iceland Services. Working together is crucial in both of these roles: you will coordinate colleagues and work together with them to achieve the company goals. You are able to run your department conscientiously and efficiently. Meanwhile, you are constantly searching for ways to increase the workforce productivity. For this challenge, we ask the following:

  • You possess a bachelor’s degree in logistics management.
  • You have experience in worldwide (food) transport, which has given you a broad network of contacts in this sector.
  • Your commercial, operational and management skills are excellent, due to your experience.
  • You have no problem travelling within the UK.

Additionally, you have solid knowledge about intercontinental freight forwarding. Are you willing to occupy a management position within this sector? Then read on!

Two roles, one challenge

As a General Manager Forwarding, you are responsible for the profitability and the growth of our forwarding organisation. You will supervise our local office and make sure everything runs smoothly. Coaching is a very important aspect in this; you will lead a team of 11 colleagues in the Sales, Operations and Customs departments. You will report your findings to the Global Forwarding Director of Rotterdam.

Your most important tasks are:

  • Being responsible for the P&L of our organisation in the UK.
  • Bearing responsibility for budgets, business plans, estimates and reports.
  • Implementing a worldwide forwarding strategy and achieving growth of revenue and profit within the contemplated segments.
  • Developing a sales plan and new customer relations.
  • Networking both internally and externally, to expand the capacity of our trade routes.
  • Creating streamlined operational processes and procedures, like automation for operational excellence.
  • Enabling overall improvement of our performances, creating an environment where new business chances can be found and preserved continuously.

The role of Branch Manager Iceland Services provides additional challenges. You will ensure that day-to-day operations are handled according to working procedures and guidelines, that contracts with subcontractors are as profitable as possible and that contacts with clients are maintained properly. Additionally, you will be supervising and safeguarding our assets.

Other important tasks of this part of the job include:

  • Being responsible for operational and investment planning, such as contractual agreements with financial institutions and timely payments of invoices and payment terms to customers.
  • Being responsible for handling all claims matters in accordance with rules set out by the Claims Department.
  • Being responsible for all (vessel) operations as well as customer services.
  • Being responsible for controlling P&L accounts, advising on credit terms and preparing VAT reports.
  • Being responsible for providing sales activities in the territory, and sustaining sales reports and customer visits.
