Supply chain start-up in the spotlight: Cubyn

Founded in 2014 by Adrien Fernandez Baca and Mathieu Lemaire and currently employing 25 people, Paris-based Cubyn is a pioneer in the fast-growing first-mile logistics segment.

The French company offers on-demand logistics for online businesses, including courier pick-up of non-wrapped goods in less than two hours, packing and shipping its customers’ orders all over the world. The service fee is just EUR1 per parcel (with a minimum of EUR5 per pick-up), plus shipping fees at a discount of up to 30% on regular courier rates. Clients can create and schedule their own shipments using Cubyn’s online platform, either via the interface or through the e-commerce module and API. The shipments can be tracked in real time every step of the way, from the courier’s approach and arrival for pick-up right through to delivery to the customer.

Working with logistics partners including La Poste, Chronopost, Colissimo and TNT, Cubyn already handles more than 50,000 parcels per month and has a portfolio of over 200 customers.

In June 2015 Cubyn won EUR500,000 in the ‘Digital French Tour’ (award for the best French startup), and in November 2015 the company received EUR1.1 million from 360 Capital Partners and Partech Ventures. In early 2017, Cubyn partnered with global e-commerce and internet services giant PriceMinister (part of Rakuten group) in a move to lay the foundation for its expansion to new markets in Europe and globally. Since then, the company has secured a further EUR6 million in funding from DN Capital, Partech and 360. The fresh capital, combined with DN Capital’s successful track record of driving logistics businesses to scale and especially its strong footprint in the UK, will initially be used to further strengthen the company’s leading position in Paris and to launch in London. This will be followed by expansion ton other major cities in France and beyond from late 2018 onwards.
