Supply chain scale-up in the spotlight: Cubyn

Cubyn

Earlier this month, first-mile demandlogistics and fulfilment platform Cubyn announced that it has raised a €12 million Series B round led by DN Capital. Additionally, the scale-up is rolling out its latest product, Cubyn Fulfillment, which is set to cut industry standard costs by 30% for e-commerce vendors as well as improving the customer experience they offer.

Founded in France by Adrien Fernandez-Baca (pictured) and Mathieu Lemaire, Cubyn entered the complex logistics industry in 2015 with an initial solution focusing on e-tailers willing to outsource their logistics while keeping their inventory. Today, with a total of €20 million in funding and having processed over two million shipments, the company has built leading proprietary technology to streamline the logistics process for e-tailers and enabling them to operate a fully integrated fulfilment solution at a fraction of the industry standard cost.

The Cubyn Fulfillment solution is being launched in partnership with leading refurbishment e-commerce platform Backmarket. This new fulfillment offering enables retailers to integrate their e-commerce inventory in one click and to start scaling their sales without worrying about logistics, all while monitoring the process from one simple interface. When an online order is placed, it is automatically exported and processed from a Cubyn warehouse. Parcels are then injected directly into the best carrier’s network to cut transit time and improve delivery quality. Cubyn leverages shipping data from millions of parcels to improve the customer satisfaction for retailers and marketplaces alike.

Cubyn plans to hire 50 more people

Cubyn is growing at a rapid pace. In the first half of 2019, it has already processed more shipments than in the entire past year, and the company plans to hire 50 more people before the end of this year to strengthen its current workforce of 60 employees. Besides this, the company is powered by a team of over 300 packers and couriers.

To oversee the successful rollout of Cubyn Fulfillment, the company has announced three recent strategic hires: a VP of Operations, Grégoire Hirtz, former Head of Amazon Prime for France; a Head of Operational Excellence, Raphaël Renault, former Head of France Cross-border Transportation at Amazon; and a Warehouse Manager, Marie Chaussade, former Operation Manager at Amazon Logistics.

The €12 million round was led by DN Capital with participations of Partech Ventures and 360 Capital Partners, BNP Paribas Développement and a new contribution from BPI France, bringing the total funding up to €20 million.
