Gefco acquires start-up Chronotruck

Logistics service provider Gefco has acquired Chronotruck, a French start-up that connects shippers and carriers through an innovative digital platform. The acquisition will enable Gefco to take further steps in the field of digitization in order to enhance the customer experience.

Chronotruck was founded in 2016 as a digital freight platform that connects carriers and shippers with the aim of reducing the number of empty journeys for carriers. The start-up provides companies with access to nearby carriers and an extensive portfolio of digitalized services, including an instant quotation system, geotracking, proof of delivery and e-invoicing. In addition, the platform helps carriers to optimize their freight flows by ensuring that trucks run at full capacity.

Reducing Gefco’s carbon footprint

“Chronotruck’s expertise will help us take another step in our customer processes and improve their experience through digitization,” says Gefco’s CEO Luc Nadal (photo). According to him, the partnership will also help the company to reduce its carbon footprint. Rodolphe Allard, CEO of Chronotruck, adds: “Our combined strengths will create a powerhouse solution for shippers and carriers that adds real value.”

Chronotruck name remains unchanged

Chronotruck has served over 9,000 customers in the three years of its existence, primarily in France so far. The company name will remain unchanged; Chronotruck will operate as an independent brand within Gefco.
