Arvato significantly expands international cooperation with Douglas Group

Arvato

Arvato is significantly expanding its cooperation with the Douglas Group. The fulfilment specialist had already been operating for Douglas for years in Germany, Austria and Switzerland (the DACH region), but will now also handle order fulfilment for customers and shops in Italy, Poland, Central Eastern Europe and the Baltic states.

Arvato’s expansion of services for the perfume and cosmetics company relies on two new distribution centres (DCs), in Italy and Poland. The DC in Bologna has 18,000 m² of warehouse space and provides warehousing and fulfilment for the entire Italian region. The second location is a new 46,000 m² DC in Mszczonów, near Warsaw. Both logistics centres are highly automated and support the Douglas Group’s omnichannel strategy.

Growth strategy

‘The new DCs in Italy and Poland represent important steps in our joint growth strategy and will help us meet the high and changing expectations of Douglas’ end consumers,’ says Julia Börs, President Beauty & Luxury and Head of ESG at Arvato. She stresses that particular care has been taken not only to deliver the highest quality of service, but also to meet the high sustainability standards that the fulfilment specialist – also active for Rituals, for example – shares with the Douglas Group.

Omnichannel operations

As is the case at the DC in Hamm, Germany, both new locations will fully function as omnichannel warehouses. With shared inventory for both B2B (shops) and B2C (e-commerce), the Douglas Group’s omnichannel activities will thus be optimally supported. The cosmetics company aims to improve the customer experience in both shops and e-commerce through, among other things, better product availability and shorter delivery times.
